FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
THIRD ANNUAL NIXA VS OZARK MAYORS CHALLENGE BLOOD DRIVE

Springfield, MO – September 16, 2022 The cities of Nixa and Ozark are uniting for area hospital patients with their participation in the third annual Mayors Challenge Blood Drive. The drive is designed as a friendly competition between residents of the two cities, providing much-needed blood donations for patients at over 40 area healthcare facilities supplied solely by Community Blood Center of the Ozarks (CBCO) donors. Donate blood for your friends and neighbors while representing your city.

Successful donors will receive two tickets to the Dickerson Park Zoo, a T-shirt, a certificate for a free drink or coffee at Signal Food Stores (whiles supplies last). All donors will also be entered into a drawing for a $50 gift card from Central Bank, and a drawing for a $100 Signal Food Store Gift Card. The winning Mayor’s high school will receive a $500 donation to Least Of These Food Pantry food drive, in their name, courtesy of Southern Bank.
Drive dates and times are:

Ozark Blood Drive
Tuesday, September 27
10:30 AM to 4:30 PM
First Baptist Church
1400 W. Jackson Street

Nixa Blood Drive
Thursday, September 29
10:30 AM to 4:30 PM
Nixa City Hall
715 W. Mount Vernon St.

The two cities in Christian County enjoy a healthy and competitive rivalry in things like school sports that will naturally spill over into this friendly competition. “I hope everyone will come out to donate for the Mayors Challenge Blood Drive,” Nixa Mayor Brian Steele said. “Blood donation gives our neighbors another chance at life. One day, that neighbor needing blood may be your relative, friend, or even yourself. Every blood donor is a hero. And as an added bonus, this particular blood drive gives the people of Nixa another opportunity to beat Ozark!”

“The Mayors Challenge Blood Drive is an incredible opportunity for Ozark residents to make a difference in their local and surrounding communities. The City of Ozark is excited to support this community event to help rally everyone to help local patients,” said Ozark Mayor Bradley Jackson. “Even though this is a friendly competition between Nixa and Ozark, the real heroes are those who step up and donate blood to save the lives of their friends, family and neighbors.”

To help avoid wait times, appointments are strongly encouraged. Donors can schedule an appointment at www.cbco.org/donate-blood. On behalf of local hospital patients, CBCO thanks blood donors from across the region for giving life to your community.
