Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Represent Synergy Executive and the men served in a positive and respectful manner.
  • Facilitate group education classes and structured activities as outlined on the daily schedule.  Supervise and encourage participation in therapeutic and recreational activities.
  • Educate the men regarding the Synergy’s policies and expectations, and offer respectful but firm redirection to enforce compliance and maintain a safe environment for both the men and employees.
  • Assist in providing the men with their medications, observe the taking of medication at designated times, and complete the appropriate medical documentation including securing client’s signature.
  • Mediate disagreements among the men served and resolve minor client crises as they arise. Call immediate supervisor if assistance is needed.
  • Administer breathalyzer tests to clients returning from a pass, or if alcohol use is suspected.
  • Follow protocol for collecting and testing urine samples, as requested by the treatment team, utilizing a 12 panel test, and record results on identified form.
  • Answer phone calls, complete condensed version of phone intake as needed, answer caller’s questions concerning treatment, and relay messages to appropriate staff or men served.
  • Greet and check in Saturday visitation guests, completing the confidentiality statement. Monitor visitation and enforce rules and regulations of the canter while treating families with dignity and respect.
  • Assist with light meal preparation and serving of the meal. Assist and supervise with kitchen duties and clean-up.
  • Responsible for laundering sheets and towels during down time.
Documentation Responsibilities
  • Document significant client altercations, observed changes in client’s demeanor, unusual behaviors and non-compliance issues in the staff communication log.
  • Complete all documentation for education groups or structured activities utilizing the identified group form.
  • Assist the men in completing authorization to release information forms as needed.
  • Document observation of all prescribed and over the counter medications utilizing the appropriate med form.
  • Complete medication error reports as required to assess reasons for error and guide interventions to ensure the health and safety of the men served.
  • If a client should choose to exit treatment against staff advice, complete identified exit paperwork.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Call pharmacies, clinics, or other medical entities to inquire about prescription medication instructions, changes, side effects, or purpose as needed.
  • Assist men served in the development of independent living skills and sober leisure activities through modeling and positive guidance.
  • Complete incident reports within 24 hours of the reportable event and inform supervisor immediately.
  • Attend and complete all required trainings.
  • Assist with general office cleaning and organization.
  • Provide periodic transportation as needed for medical reason or church pass.
  • Assist men served with special needs or accommodations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications
Residential Assistants must have the ability to work independently and as a team, and make decisions using standard agency policy and procedures. Residential Assistants must maintain professional and appropriate boundaries with the residents and maintain confidentiality of the residents and employee and organizational issues and information.
Residential Assistants must possess professional communication skills, time management skills, and basic computer skills. Residential Assistants must be knowledgeable concerning Missouri DBH certification standards that guide program practices.
Minimum Experience and Training
Residential Assistants must have a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED. RA’s must attain and maintain certification in CPR, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogens.
Working Conditions
Typical office demands include prolonged sitting, frequent standing, bending, stooping, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds. The job requires normal range of hearing and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, phone, printer, and other office equipment as needed.
