State of the Community Dinner
The Inaugural Ozark "State of the Community" Dinner
Presented by the Chamber of Commerce
The Ozark Chamber of Commerce will host the inaugural State of the Community Dinner on Thursday evening, October 2, 2014 at The OC at 6:00 pm. The evening will consist of a dinner and presentations by community leaders, with time allowed for questions from attendees.
The Chamber Leaders, along with the Partnership in Progress which consists of the Ozark School District Leaders, and the Ozark City Leaders, decided that it is important to take a look at our community, see where we stand, remember where we’ve been and take focus on our future. A civic meeting is the perfect setting to exchange ideas and information by brining together a cross-section of the community.
The goal of the event is to present the current state of each entity involved and talk about how we, as a community, can support one another. The following community organizations will be the featured presenters: City of Ozark, Ozark School District, Ozark Fire Protection District, and Christian County.

41st Annual Ozark Arts & Crafts Festival at Finley River Park
Welcome to the Annual Ozark Craft Show!
October 3rd, 4th & 5th, 2014
Friday & Saturday, 9am to 6pm - Sunday, 9am to 4pm
This event has been a meeting ground for family & friends
for more than a quarter-century.
We invite you to join us for a weekend of
fun, food, shopping & craftsmanship.
The Ozark Utopia Club was organized in 1953 by the late Mrs. John F. Boye. There were 20 charter members, two of which are still active today.
The name “Utopia” was chosen because it meant “to go high.” The charter group set high standards and high goals that are still adhered to today. Our club vows duty to the State of Missouri and the United States of America and support for both their constitutions. To keep our focus in the community, we limit our membership to 20 and meet in the homes of our members.
The Utopia Club has raised money through various means over the years, and in 1974 they began to help the Ozark Chamber of Commerce with the Annual Ozark Arts and Crafts Show. Since that time, the club has assumed complete control over the show and at present, it is our only fund-raiser. We’re proud to say the show attracts over 250 vendors and thousands of visitors from many states.
The purpose of our efforts, of course, is to allow us to extend charitable contributions to the community. Our donations help children and families in times of need or crisis.
The Ozark Utopia Club is affiliated with the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and maintains a not-for-profit status.

Support the Fight Against Domestic Violence ! Community Volunteers Needed!
CALLING VOLUNTEERS IN THE OZARK COMMUNITY AND THROUGHOUT CHRISTIAN COUNTY!
Want to make a difference? Here is a right now and real time volunteer opportunity to make a difference in your community! An Emergent need has arisen for individual or group volunteers to assist in the planned rebuild of the Christian County Family Crisis Center- “Freedom’s Rest” .
They are looking for help all this week through Sunday October 26th and the location is just 8 miles from Springfield/ almost on the border of Greene/Christian County.
Freedom’s Rest is the only local haven and shelter serving all of Christian County. This site is designed for victims of domestic violence to safely flee their situations and to obtain the help they need to get on their own two feet, while being protected against further injury or harm from their assailants.
The Crisis Center has obtained much needed funding and materials and now they desperately need willing VOLUNTEERS THIS WEEK THROUGH SUNDAY OCTOBER 26TH to assist in hauling materials, building walls, plumbing, electrical, cement wall patching, yard work, painting, moving, and furniture assembly.
The goal is to be completed for a grand reopening on 29 October, next Wednesday, so they can once again support the basic needs of those seeking immediate asylum from domestic violence situations.
If you can supply willing volunteers or some trade expertise for our community to restore services to those in need of safehaven from family violence throughout Christian County, please contact the Ozark Chamber at 417 581 6139.
Or you may call the Director of the Christian County Family Crisis Center (Currently Closed for remodel) Matthew Evans at (417) 773-5417 directly.
Please email volunteer@freedomsrest.org or call our office at 417-582-0344 to find out more or to let us know you are coming!
Individuals, groups, churches, and everyone else of all ages are welcome to help "A New Beginning" become a reality!

Celebrate My Drive- You Can Help Ozark High School Win A Grant from State Farm!
First, the not-so-good news: More teens die from car crashes than any other cause. And the first year of driving is the most dangerous.
The good news: There’s something we all can do about it. And it involves a celebration!
That’s what Celebrate My Drive is about – celebrating this big, new life of freedom that comes with a driver’s license. Part of that life means making smart choices behind the wheel, which is why we’re spreading the message of 2N2® – 2 eyes on the road, 2 hands on the wheel. It’s a simple habit that can reduce distracted driving and help new drivers build confidence on the road.
This party even gives you and your high school a shot at some pretty sweet prizes - like a $100,000 or $25,000 Grant for your high school, and maybe even one of two Grand Prize concerts featuring GRAMMY® Nominated The Band Perry.
Last year, thousands of high schools in communities all over North America joined the celebration, with more than six million safe driving commitments made. And you’re invited to this year’s party!
